What is youth therapy, and how can it help my child?
Youth therapy is a form of counseling specifically designed for children and adolescents. It helps them address emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges, fostering personal growth and well-being.
How do I know if my child needs therapy?
Look for signs like changes in behavior, academic struggles, social withdrawal, or emotional distress. Consulting a therapist can help determine if therapy is appropriate.
What types of issues can youth therapy address?
Therapy can address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, behavioral problems, bullying, self-esteem, and family conflicts, among others.
What qualifications do therapists at your center have?
Therapists have advanced degrees in counseling, psychology, or social work, and they are licensed professionals. They may also have additional training in child and adolescent therapy.
How long does a typical therapy session last, and how many sessions are usually needed?
Sessions typically last 50 minutes, and the number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual and their specific concerns. Therapists work with individuals and families to create personalized treatment plans.

How can I pay for therapy?
The Loft accepts checks, cash, and credit cards.
Can I use insurance?
Like many private practices, The Loft does not accept insurance. Unfortunately, to submit treatment to an insurance company, practitioners are required to provide a formal diagnosis with treatment information, which impedes upon the privacy and confidentiality of the client.
The Loft’s counselors can provide a detailed receipt with diagnostic coding if the client would like to separately submit a claim to their insurance company. It is advised that you discuss the pros and cons with your counselor before proceeding.
How much is counseling at The Loft? What if I can’t afford therapy?
Every counselor sets their own rates. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please discuss sliding scale fees with your counselor. Rates may vary depending on a number of factors, including need, flexibility, and age of client. The standard rate is $165 per 50 minute session.
What should I or my child expect during their first therapy session?
The first session is typically an introduction where the therapist and client get to know each other. The therapist will explain the process, establish trust, and begin assessing the client’s needs. It is important for the provider to understand the needs of the client.
How can I prepare my child for therapy?
Every child is different. You can prepare your child by explaining the purpose of therapy, reassuring them that it's a safe and supportive space, and answering any questions they may have. Some children will want to share the therapy space with their caregiver, while others will want to keep it all to themselves! There are many different ways to address an introduction to therapy and your counselor is happy to discuss techniques during the parent intake session.
